Finish Line Degree Completion Grant
Opens Jul 28 2026 12:00 AM (CDT)
Up to $3,000
Description

The Finish Line Degree Completion Grant from Missouri Scholarship & Loan Foundation (MSLF) is a program that assists Missouri students who either have left school with an outstanding balance OR who are in their final semester and have exhausted all federal financial aid options.

This grant may help if:
1. You want to return to your school but have an outstanding balance.
2. You are one semester away from graduating but have exhausted your federal financial aid.

The standard award amount is $1,500. If the student's balance exceeds $1,500, MSLF may reach out to the school to explore a shared strategy to reduce the back balance or balance remaining.

Eligible students will be identified by the participating school and must:

  • Be a Missouri resident.
  • Have a current Student Aid Index (SAI) of 12,000 or less on the FAFSA.
  • Meet academic progress standards as set by the school.
  • Be an undergraduate student who has not yet completed a degree.
  • Have not already received MSLF’s Finish Line Degree Completion Grant.

If you owe a back balance, you must also:

  • Have completed at least 75% of credits/hours required for degree completion.
  • Provide approved degree-completion plan and school-confirmed re-enrollment at an eligible Missouri school.
  • Be stopped-out (not enrolled) for at least one term (not to include summer term).
  • Have an outstanding balance at an eligible Missouri school.
Click here to see eligible schools list.

If you have exhausted all federal financial aid, you must also:

  • Be enrolled in your final semester of the academic degree program.
  • Have no additional federal funding available.
  • Have a certified need to cover direct educational costs.

Grants are available through Missouri Scholarship & Loan Foundation (MSLF) programs at the discretion of the institution and MSLF, in accordance with program rules and applicable laws. Requests will be considered as long as funding designated for the applicable program remains available. Once all required documentation has been completed and certified by both the applicant and the applicant's institution, submitted to MSLF, and approved by MSLF, funds will be forwarded to the requesting institution. If awarded, grant funding may be considered taxable income. MSLF does not withhold or report taxes on grant funds. Recipients should consult their tax advisor regarding their individual circumstances. MSLF reserves the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue any grant program, or amend program requirements, at any time and in its sole discretion. Information provided in this application is intended as a summary of the program and is subject to the complete program rules and requirements.
